Row ROw ROW your boat!
Getting into the English Oxford spirit came easily for our summer students staying at Oxford University, as they took to the famous River Cherwell for an afternoon of punting.
Groups of students jumped into the renowned punts (long and shallow wooden boats) with beaming smiles, ready to immerse themselves in the traditional Oxfordian pastime.
Spending an afternoon on the idyllic River Cherwell was a delight for everyone, who picked up the technique quickly and chatted as they punted their friends down the river.
For some, it was a chance to showcase their already extensive knowledge of Oxford, as they pointed out the famous spires and colleges that they drifted past. For others, the opportunity to spot the English wildlife proved popular as they noted the different species of ducks that noisily glided past the vessels.
The activity was an amusing excursion and, despite many near misses, everyone displayed a natural flair for punting. It was great to hear loud laughter echoing down the river as we journeyed on, and many enjoyed the opportunity to experience a quintessentially British pastime.
